About Me

Hello 3rd grade Families!!!

This is my FOURTH year at Pine View but its my 15th year in Sarasota County. I am so proud to be your child's teacher.  I look forward to many amazing days in the classroom together.

I received my bachelors degree in Fine Arts in the department Interior Design and Space Planning at our very own Ringling College in the year 1992. I earned my Masters of Education in Elementary Education at the University of South Florida in 2003. During graduation I earned the "Outstanding Graduate" award from my professors. After that I soon earned my gifted endorsement, + 45 hours, and my National Board Certification. Through professional development and working with our incredible curriculum specialists I learned that some of my passions are Arts Integration, cooperative learning, and innovative teaching strategies.

In the 2015/2016 school year I was selected as Florida Studio Theater's Educator of the Year celebrating 14 years of a wonderful working relationship that brings play writing into the classroom. I also lead a teacher workshop for over 40 teachers in our district, on using Visual Arts in the classroom to build critical thinkers at the 2016 Summer Arts Integration League Summer Session at the Venice Center for Performing Arts. Additionally, I am a proud teaching artist for Van Wezel's Education Department designing lesson plans for teachers in both Sarasota and Bradenton that focus on integrating the arts into Reading, Math, and Science.

This year we are working with the district on a project called Project Amplify which will support the arts in education.   I believe that teaching should be motivating, engaging, and challenging. I try to base my lessons on my students needs and interests while meeting the demands of our academic standards.

Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. Freda.williams@sarasotacountyschools.net I will do my best to reply to your email as soon as possible but during the school day my focus will always be on the students and my time with them.

Looking forward to a wonderful magical and creative year with your children!
